MY AFFECTED REALITY - BIO
The core of the group is made up of musicians that have been in several bands that have made some impact in music both locally and internationally. Collectively they have been in groups that have featured members of internationally known groups such as Harem Scarem and current INXS singer JD Fortune. They have opened for various groups on large touring stages directly supporting bands such as Motley Crue, 3 Days Grace, and Paul Dianno (Of Iron Maiden fame). They have toured Canada extensively and The U.S. American high lights have included the Canyon club and the world famous Whiskey A Go Go in L.A. playing the same stage that has featured Van Halen, Guns and Roses, and every other band to hail from California.
My Affected Reality’s sound is a mix of their influences ; Trevor's dance and dark synthesizer laden, beat oriented groove. Ron's powerful, heavy, guitar driven riffs. Patt’s eclectic blend of goth, pop, and power rock melodies. All of this makes for a powerful blend of melodic rock with huge, instantly memorable choruses and catchy dark verses all wrapped up in a stylish, eclectic pop format with messages of hope, loss, and redemption.

CONFLICTED Sign With Nightmare Records
CONFLICTED's much anticipated debut album, entitled NEVER BE TAMED (Nightmare/Sony/Red), will be released internationally, in CD and digital formats, on April 12, 2011.
Formed in Toronto, Canada in 2008, CONFLICTED produce a truly unique, category-defying, genre-expanding modern progressive/power metal sound via a combination of seasoned technical ability, a fervency for volume and a passion for power.
CONFLICTED is fronted by the astounding four-octave vocals of singer JASON ORTON, who consistently delivers pitch-perfect tones rich with both ferocity and emotion. In perfect contrast, neo-classically influenced guitarist MARK OWEN possesses a fiery, virtuosic stranglehold on the fretboard. Rounding out CONFLICTED are the symphonic atmospheres created by RON DE COSTE’s masterful keyboard work, the complimentary melodic undertones of bassist JOHN KOLODZIEJ, and the precision percussive onslaught of Drummer COREY STOLL.
CONFLICTED are best known for delivering stunning must-see live performances. Their rising popularity and reputation culminated in them being named Best Metal Band at the 2010 Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMAs), as well as earning three prominent awards at ImageFM Radio's 2010 Annual Independent Music Awards (Male Vocalist of the Year, Guitarist of the Year and Progressive Single of the Year).
CONFLICTED will be touring throughout 2011 in support of NEVER BE TAMED.
Current tour dates include:
Mar. 19 – The Hardball Cafe, 8750 Hwy. 25N, Milton, ON
Apr. 16 – Rockpile Bar and Night Club, 5555 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, ON - CD Release Party

CONFLICTED Press Release
CONFLICTED’s Song Victor Victoria – WINS Best Progressive Metal Single of the Year
CONFLICTED’s Lead Vocalist Jason Orton – WINS Best Male Vocalist of the Year
CONFLICTED’s Guitarist Mark Owen – WINS Best Guitarist of the Year
ImageFM.ca 2010 Awards will be presented during an online party on January 8, 2011 starting at 7:30 p.m.
CONFLICTED were also named "Best Metal Band" at the 2010 The Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMAs).
CONFLICTED have risen to become one of the most revered and “must see” live acts in their region, having headlined many of their own shows, plus having opened for international touring artists, all to stellar audience reception. The responses from music insiders have been emphatically and overwhelmingly positive.
Fronted by the gifted and talented Jason Orton -- a professionally trained, 4-octave range vocalist -- he brings what one would consider a Halford-esque tonality, intensity, and vibrancy to CONFLICTED, with vocal and stage performances that have been widely critically acclaimed.
Orton, in the opinion of many, is poised to become the next metallic singing superstar hailing from Toronto to achieve world recognition, in league with Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) and James LaBrie (Dream Theatre), the latter of which Orton is often favourably compared to.
CONFLICTED's epically orchestrated and powerful, theatre/arena rock -- one that expertly blends modern and classic elements to create a musicality distinctively their own -- is skillfully and dynamically delivered by ROBERT MARK OWEN (guitar), JOHN KOLODZIEJ (bass), COREY STOLL (drums), and RON DE COSTE (keys), all of whom themselves are skilled virtuosos with years of experience which resonates both live and in the studio.
CONFLICTED are currently playing live shows in support the forthcoming release entitled “Never Be Tamed”.
Please join CONFLICTED at Rockpile this Thursday, December 16, 2010 on at 8:30 p.m. with Warmachine and Mind Mechanics. 5555 Dundas Street West (at 427), Etobicoke. $10. All Ages and 19+ Show. Conflicted in the Studio - Report by Mark Brewer, Executive Producer
If you like metal and prog mixed together, you are going to love Conflicted. This Toronto based band is currently recording their first full length CD with me. The association came about after the band played a show on Imagefm.ca recently. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised during the webcast, so much that I offered to record their CD. I am the Executive Producer on this project.
The current line-up consists of Jason Orton on Vox (studio bass-studio keys), Mark Owen on Guitar (studio keys), Corey Stoll on the skins, coupled with their new bass player Bone doing live shows. The band is currently seeking a new keyboard player. If you like Saga, Judas Priest and other prog/metal tunes you will be into these guys bigtime. The music is for a better word, brilliant! Tight, catchy and dramatic. Every song tells a story, unlike some other bands of today. Jason Orton is a 4 octive singer. Actually the term 4 octive might be an understatement. I am not talking about the piercing screamer. This is a guy that can bring the goods in the higher ranges, inserting emotion and precision in his vocal delivery. This is a rare comodity. Anyone can scream on stage. Jason can sing! Hide those precious crystal glasses near this guy as they would shatter from his vocal delivery. Corey Stoll whom affectionatley I call the human metronome is one hell of a drummer. With many years of experience behind his Pearl Masters kit. He is facinating to watch both in the studio and on stage. Hey you...have you ever seen a band that is great but has a crappy drummer? It really drags the rest of the band down into abyss. Corey on the other hand really amps up the energy with his tight, hard hitting playing. Mark Owen, the guitarist from Conflicted (I call him the axe master) which might be a major under-rating. If you know Conflicted, you will know that the guitar licks and riffs in their music is precise, methotical and a real treat to listen to. Mark puts his all into the music and it shows in the live stage showsand in the up-coming recording. He just doesnt stand there like some players. He's into his craft. Mark has been called one of the best indie guitar players in Canada. I tend to agree with that statement, as I have seen the evidence first hand both in the studio and live.
Some of you might be curious about how the recording is going here at Imagefm.ca? Pro is the only word that comes to mind! Pictured here is Corey Stoll on the last day of drum tracking. Corey and I spent a few weeks in sporatic sessions laying down the drum tracks to this long awaited 10 song CD. Corey is a great guy with a firm attention to detail. When you hear this recording, you will know exactly what I am talking about.
Corey's kit is pristine sounding. It is pictured here in the Imagefm.ca tracking studio.
Jason Orton is not only a killer vocalist, he is also a very talented bass player. He is pictured here with Mark Owen in the Imagefm.ca master control room. Jason has a unique taste for Rickenbacker basses. This is his third Rickenbacker. Jason has tracked all of the bass tracks for the upcoming CD. A little inside scoop folks......Most of the bass tracks laid down by Jason were either the first or second take! The bass sounds are incredible and will cut through nicely. For those that know what a Rickenbacker sounds like, you will definately notice this in the recording. I love it!
Mark Owen digs great guitar gear, namely Marshall cabs, heads and his life long love for Fender Stratocaster axes, for which he has done his own mods on. Pictured is his recording setup in the Imagefm.ca studio. if you have a chance to actually get close enough to his strats you will notice that the necks on all of his axes are custom. If you can see them at a show take a good look!
One of many of Mark Owen's Stratocaster's....To date the Conflicted CD directory on our recording pc has 50 gigabytes contained in it! This is going to be one killer CD! Please stay tuned for further updates on this remarkable recording.

CONFLICTED - Release New Songs
Toronto Metal Prog-Rockers CONFLICTED Announce 4 New Songs!
The band brings to the table 4 new songs:
“Never Be Tamed” – a powerful statement made through lyrics, music and performance. Some features in this song include the incredible 4-octave range of front man and lead vocalist Jason Orton, and the guitar excellence of Mark Owen.
“Victor(ia)” – a definite crowd favourite that you will be humming along with and remembering for quite some time. With great lyrics sung by Jason Orton and featuring not only the incredible guitar work of Mark Owen, but also the amazing keyboard soloing of Jason Long. Other memorables include the kick ass rhythmic pulse created Corey Stoll’s drums and James Long on bass guitar.
“Alive” – the newest song of the bunch that is quickly becoming a fan favourite. “Alive” sets itself apart from the other songs with its sweet and sour vocal approach sung by front man Jason Orton. It too features not only guitar solo work by Mark Owen but also Jason Long’s well-crafted keyboard input.
“Torment” – Arguably CONFLICTED’s showcase song! Jason Orton displays his 4-octave range with masterful execution and Jason Long on keyboards and Mark Owen on guitar display their virtuosic talents. Both melodically and harmonically luring the listener into a world of arpeggios and tonal bliss. Also noting the incredibly staccato rhythmic locking of both James Long’s bass and Corey Stoll’s drumming and double bass footwork.

SIN DEALER PLAY CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK - THURS. MARCH 6
March 6th, 2008
10:30 pm
Rok Boutique www.rokboutiquebar.com
200 Bathurst Street
TORONTO, ON. – February 27, 2008 — Sin Dealer, comprised of members of Edwin, Sea of Green, Sons of Otis and Plasma Blast, are a straight-up hard rock band with a blue collar work ethic and a classic rock atmosphere. They play windows down, pedal to the metal highway cruising music full of big riffs and sing along choruses. Rock and roll the way it was meant to be played: stripped down and raw!
Now, in homage of Queen and Bathurst, the neighbourhood where they write their tunes and jam, and that saw them play their first gigs in its clubs, Sin Dealer are using their Canadian Music Week showcase to aid in the Queen St. W Revival! In lieu of cover, the band, joining forces with Metal Queen Management and Rok Boutique, encourage everyone to contribute monetary donations, or clothes, food and other household items for the 60+ victims who lost everything in last Wednesday’s fire.
If that’s not incentive enough to make it out, singer Eric Kuthe and drummer Jeff Zurba will be celebrating their birthdays! Fresh off their gig with W.A.S.P. at The Phoenix on February 28, 2008, you know the guys will be pumped and ready to rock!
“Dealers are purveyors of what you really desire. Pushers, on the other hand, force you to take what they have. In a music industry accused of pushing the latest trend and focusing on replicating the current fad there is at least one band focused on dealing in their own niche. Sin Dealer are providing real rock fans what they truly desire, their sophomore opus Dying To Live.”
After a yearlong hiatus, Sin Dealer re-emerged last year to record “Dying to Live,” the follow up to 2004’s self-titled album, which diehard fans affectionately dubbed “13.” Playing gigs with Prong and Teenage Head, as well as W.A.S.P. is just the tip of the iceberg for these guys! Keep an eye out for more big announcements in the coming weeks!
Sin Dealer hits the stage at 10:30 pm. Come out and party for a worthy cause at a wicked bar – there will be CD and merch giveaways!

The ball gets rolling at 12pm, with bands like Fidget, Mamakin, Rock of Ages, Guns n’f’n Rosez, Hot Rocks and Practically Hip keeping the party going all day! Basia hits the stage at 3pm! Tickets are $10, and it all goes to the troops! The show is AGCO licensed, but all ages are welcome to join us to rock out and ride some go karts!
This event will come on the heels of another important gig lined up for Basia in the next month: The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto beacon for up and coming music talent, is hosting Basia Lyjak on Thursday, November 1st, 2007, with tickets at $4! With this gig, she takes one more notch off her tour belt in her trek to show us what she’s made of – a straight up rock chick attitude with catchy, well crafted tunes and the vocals to back it up.
“Basia Lyjak has arrived at a time when we all thought stage and studio 'magic,' 'presence,' and 'charisma' had long since fallen off the pages! Rewriting the A&R chapters is easy but I really do feel sorry for the label execs that ran out of ink!" – Colin Lynch, Jimmy Stilettos Magazine
With Toronto institutions like The Phoenix, The Rivoli and The ElMo having already seen her rock their stages for her ever expanding audience, Basia is excited to play a venue like the ‘Shoe, where “indie” and “major” artists alike showcase their talents.
Fans can also look forward to hearing a brand new Basia song, one of several she wrote with the prodigious Kyle Riabko, which she plans to record two weeks before the gig with producer Brian Moncarz, of Whirlwind Sound Studios.
As always, her all-star band will accompany her, featuring guitarist Ron Bechard, of Sin Dealer and formerly of Edwin, Three Days Grace and Rosita Stone, as well as bassist Dave Carreiro, of Nigel’s 11. New additions, Diana DiGiovanni of Left of the Sun and Glenn Nash of Ozonebaby, also join the band onstage on rhythm guitars/backup vocals and drums, respectively.

SIN DEALER's “Dying To Live”, Independent (Sept. 2007)
Dealers are purveyors of what you really desire. Pushers, on the other hand, force you to take what they have. In a music industry accused of pushing the latest trend and focusing on replicating the current fad there is at least one band focused on dealing in their own niche. Sin Dealer are providing real rock fans what they truly desire, their sophomore opus Dying To Live.
The Toronto, Ontario based quartet was born out of the ashes of the likes of Sea Of Green, Sons of Otis, Edwin & The Pressure & Plasma Blast in 2005. Eric Kuthe, vocals, Jeff Zurba, drums, Frank Sergeant, bass and Ron Bechard, guitar, came together with a true sense of musical duty in an effort to make the music they loved without the expectation of a label. With over 100 different releases under their collective belts, one might surmise the veteran atmosphere allows for some unique interplay. As Kuthe explains “This is a collection of all we’ve seen, tasted, smelled and felt over the years,… and ended up being a collaboration between a bunch of buddies that just ‘get’ the music together.”
The range of influences expresses itself from the big riff rock to the underpinned blues vibe. “We aren’t pegged as any one genre, it is windows down, peddle to the metal cruising music” explains Kuthe. That shows forth from the opening guitar lines through the closing notes as the album pumps out a blue-collar work ethic and a classic vibe. From AC/DC to Elvis, from KISS to Johnny Cash, from James Brown to Motorhead, Sin Dealer draws from the influences of those paramount artists that understood what being a true entertainer really was.
“Bands used to be these untouchable entities and that is what we aspire to,” tells Kuthe. “The atmosphere of a bygone day of pure rock and roll the way it was meant to be, stripped down and raw.” The unmitigated power of what Sin Dealer aspire to shines forth on their latest offering.
“Dying To Live” is an evolution from the band's first CD entitled “13”. “This is a collection of all we’ve seen, tasted, smelled and felt over the years,” explains Kuthe. It's metal, hard and classic rock, even a little country and all around heavy, but as Bechard explains, “We aren’t pegged as any one genre, it's windows down, peddle to the metal cruising music.”
The record encompasses that timeless feel right down to the way it was laid down as Kuthe tells, “We recorded in a 110-year-old converted farmhouse in a small town 1 1/2 hours outside of Toronto. The one memory in particular was when we were all in the main tracking room with the 60-foot cathedral ceiling and views out over the farm fields. This fog had drifted in; it was winter - January - so the trees were bare and it was reminiscent of the music we envisioned in our youth and how classics like Zep and Sabbath probably recorded.”
Recording at Escarment Sound was not the only throwback Sin Dealer undertook. “There was no pressure on us to accomplish anything, we just went in and jammed,” Kuthe imparts. “We weren’t afraid to just try things… to just be spontaneous as a bunch of friends sharing ideas with one another and find a common ground to make us happy.” This element allows for the band to accomplish a pure sound out of their efforts
Sin Dealers “Dying To Live” is a balance of the heavy and the melodic, the raunchy and the passionate, the reality of life and the roots of rock and roll.

Chris Caffery on Tour (Toronto show June 13) and New Release Available
It’s been over two years since Hard Rock guitarist Chris Caffery put out a solo album. Locomotive Records will release Caffery’s eclectic Pins And Needles on June 5, 2007.
The busy musician, despite continuing his key roles in Savatage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, was hellbent to finish in the studio and get back out on the road where he belongs, this time with Doro. Not only is he in her band, but he will be showcasing the new material from Pins And Needles when he opens for the metal queen. His legion of international fans couldn’t be more excited.
Caffery was halfway through the production of Pins And Needles when the record label that signed him, Black Lotus, out of Greece, ceased to exist. Ever the metal warrior, Caffery, though, forged on, and feels it’s his strongest musical statement to date.
The dictionary definition of Pins And Needles is “a tingling sensation in a limb recovering from numbness.” For those who need a jolt in their musical selections, here’s the movement that will flush feeling back into the hard rock soul. Caffery expresses his thoughts and frustrations with a variant of topics. From dealing with death to impact of the Internet on society to his hatred of Taco Bell, the listener fully extrapolates the vast mind of this experienced musician. “Life has much adversity, tragedy, and emotional challenges”, he says.
